Most of his military career was spent in Tucson, Arizona, where he was stationed for almost six years. He traveled to many state bases for additional training and leadership courses throughout his six year enlistment. In January of 2003, his squadron deployed to the Middle East in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. The squadron established a base in south eastern Jordan, which borders Iraq to the south west and Israel to the west. They worked directly with the Jordanian military and all branches of the United States military to overthrow Saddam Hussein's regime. Arriving back to the states, Richard was awarded an Air Force Commendation Medal. ## The lessons that shape the work The Air Force has three core values.
